A review of ČSD locomotives regularly used with double-deck coach sets:
steam - 475.1, 477.0, 434.2, 524.1, 555.3 (the last one was the former German BR 52 rebuilt to heavy fuel oil heating)
diesel - T 478.1/751, T 478.3/753, T 478.4/754, 750, T 478.2/752 (except heating season), T 435.0/720 (except heating season)
electric (DC) - E 499.0/140, E 499.1/141
electric (AC) - S 489.0/230, S 499.0/240 (the AC engines were used on the line Břeclav - Bratislava)
The double-deck sets were used since 1962 till 2002. Regions of regular deployment: Prague, central and south-west Bohemia, Ostrava - Břeclav - Bratislava. Especially their frequent operation in the late 1960s - early 1970s on the busy local lines nearby Prague (like Praha - Čerčany, Praha - Dobříš, Praha - Beroun via Rudná, Zdice - Písek) was very interesting.
Only one set has been preserved and is occasionaly used for nostalgic rides.
Notice: Before purchasing individual double-deck coaches (1976) ČSD used exclusively four-part coach sets.
Notice 2: The machine readable (German: EDV) locomotive numbers have been used at ČSD/ČD since 1988.
Pls apologize me for using English. My German is really very poor...
