Abriss der Firmengeschichte​

"Gandy Dancer" war eine amerikanische Herstellerfirma, welche Bausätze für rollendes Material nach amerikanischem Vorbild sowie Ersatzteile und Zubehör (z.B. Automodelle, Signale, Figuren) anbot. Hierbei handelte es sich um Bausätze aus gemischtem Material (Holz, Buntmetall, Pappe). Die Kupplungen (Art.-Nr. 610) und Drehgestelle, welche meist nicht Teil der eigentlichen Bausätze waren, stammten vorwiegend aus der Produktion von H. P. Products.

Die ersten Modelle wurden im Jahr 1951 ausgeliefert.

Unter "Gandy Dancer" firmierten über die Jahre folgende Personen:
  • Sherman E. Dance (*19?? – †1964) Firmengründer (Druckkunstlehrer; Adr.: 61 Highgate Terrace, West Englewood, N. J.)
  • Edwin J. Fetyk (*1920 – †1964) ab 1956 (Adr.: Carmel Route 2 New York)
  • Albert J. Soulier (*1919 – †1994) ab Ende 1965 (Adr.: Box 4, Amenia, N.Y. 12501)
  • Jack Meccariello (*1919 – †1994) ab Ende 1971 (Adr.: Box J, Pine Plains, N.Y. / Route 799 Pine Plains, N.Y. 12567)
In der Juni-Ausgabe des Model Railroader erscheint 1978 eine Meldung, dass ein Feuer das Lager und Büro der Firma stark beschädigt hat und in dessen Folge viele Modelle nicht mehr hergestellt werden könnten.

Rechte, Formen, Werkzeuge und Lagerbestände wurden nach Firmenaufgabe von Lawrence E. "Larry" Sayre (*1926 – †2013) gekauft und später (1988) durch John E. Harmon (Allegheny Model Products [AMP]) erworben. Durch ein Feuer werden 1986 die Siebdruck-Master für die Seitenwände der Boxcars vernichtet. Im Jahr 1993 verkauft John E. Harmon die TT-Sparte an Stan Lisowski (Tempe TT).
